Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

He knew Isolt still had a bashful side and it couldn't be good for her to hear him and her best friend discussing their intimacy. He expected her to blush maddenly red and get flustered but he loved that about her. Even as he gave Isolt a sidelong glance, he saw the evidence of the flush already coloring her cheeks and his lips quirked in amusement. She exclaimed her friend's name, obviously embarassed. What he didn't expect was her to tell Harley that books and chocolates weren't necessary because the sex was mind blowing. He raised a brow, his eyes sparkling with satisfaction at this agreement from his own fiance but only once the words left her mouth did Isolt seem to figure out what she'd just said out loud. He watched her slap a hand up to cover her eyes as if that would take it all back and only then did he chuckle and look at Harley. "See? Not necessary." His eyes seemed to ask her if she needed any further proof, daring her with the intensity of his even gaze.

They started talking about childhood memories then and he let them have their moment, simply taking in the information to store. He would never turn down stories that made up who Isolt was, even in her human state. He listened attentively as Isolt added more to the story, raising a brow at Harley's violent history. She'd always been a spitfire, it would seem. This Adrian seemed to either be Harley's brother or a childhood friend they shared. When Harley suddenly asked about Damon though, he let his gaze linger on Isolt with an unspoken question. Just how much could he say? The narrowing of her gaze, however subtle, was not missed and he knew that he could talk but that she didn't want Harley to know anything about the supernatural, not tonight. He would find a way to go around it then, anything to keep her happy. He watched Harley's face as she looked over the photos scattered across the table. These memories meant a lot to her as they did to Isolt. They would do anything to go back to those simpler times while Damon would never want to look back on the human life he used to lead. A life that included the mother who died without knowing her sons were still alive and the father who beat all of them and got away with it. He murdered his own sons and got away with it because of who he was.

He didn't know anything about Harley and he hoped to remedy that. She had a past (who doesn't?) and he wanted to know as much about her as he could. Maybe he would do some research of his own when he left here. That way he could get a more complete story. She had shadows in her past. He could see it in her eyes. There was a darkness. Maybe her parents were murdered. Maybe she knew something about the supernatural already and Isolt was the one being kept in the dark. Who knew? He was interested to find out. She wasn't unattractive by any means so why didn't she have a boyfriend to share stories about? Was an ex a part of the mysterious past? Was she running from something? He would find out soon enough. She replied back that they weren't boring at all and he smirked at her sarcasm. When he mentioned not having any basketball at the reception, she said that it would liven it up, adding that drunk people would be the entertainment. His eyes twinkled with mischief. Maybe they were more alike than he wanted to believe. She just didn't know that most of the people at the reception would be supernatural so they had higher metabolism and could hold their alcohol a lot better than a normal human.

He glanced at Isolt, his lips quirked. "She had a point." He could sense that Harley was watching him just as intensely as he did her. It was like she was waiting on the sign to appear above his head that said he was a grade A jackass and would only break Isolt's heart. He guessed as her best friend, she had that right. He held his own, not shifting or squirming beneath her gaze but holding a steady look of his own right back at her. When they taunted each other about sex, she kept it going, saying they didn't need pictures when it was all about the experience. "Well, I have plenty of both so that shouldn't be a problem." He replied smoothly. He didn't care that it might come off as him being a whore. Isolt knew that he had lived long enough not to be lonely and she had accepted that. If he had nothing to hide from Harley save his species then his sex life was the least of her concerns. Then she said that Isolt didn't need a jerk in her life fucking things up and he nodded, reaching over to squeeze Isolt's hand gently. "You're absolutely right." He agreed with a genuine tone.

When Isolt spoke up, it was obvious that Harley wanted to crack up laughing at her expression of embarassment but she held her tongue. Something shifted in Harley's expression for a moment as she watched her friend and Damon wondered what she had noticed but then the moment was gone. At least Isolt speaking up seemed to do the trick and Harley chose to back down, apologizing. He only smirked when she said that if they were going to be married then they needed to enjoy sex. If only she understood the chances of them parting in this lifetime. Harley said that she deserved gifts for her heart of gold and that she wanted it to stay that way. Damon nodded, his face sober. "She'll have whatever her heart desires and more." It was the closest to a promise that he could give without hinting at their immortality. When he hinted at her ex's, she gave a little, saying that her ex's were assholes, not stupid and that she wished they were so she wouldn't have gotten into as much trouble. His face softened a little. So she did have a bad past with men. He knew no comment would be enough so he just nodded to let her know he was listening.

She seemed to relax a little after they were seated, though she seemed confident that she would get to the source of any secrets he might be hiding. She had no idea. Harley brought up Adrien again and this time Damon caught the sad note in her voice. More than a friend. A brother. No wonder her and Isolt were so close. He knew that she'd lost her brother and from the sounds of it, Harley had too, in one way or another. She said that he'd taught her how to throw a punch. "It's good for a woman to know how to defend herself." He didn't want her thinking he thought women inferior or that they shouldn't know how to fight. On the contrary, it turned him on to see a fierce woman fighting her own battles. He was protective and would always prefer to be between Isolt and danger but he wouldn't deny that he loved to see her step forward and take control. Then she added that she used her brother's training on Isolt's own brother. He smirked good naturedly. He hadn't expected her to be so open about Adrien, saying that she missed having a brother and she wondered if he was still alive. His brow rose in surprise when she said he was hunting vampires. He gave a side look to Isolt, wondering if she knew this side of Harley's family.

"Doesn't sound safe at all." He admitted, wondering if he should have played skeptical of the existence of vampires or if it was alright to act unsurprised of them being in this world. So she knew of vampires so she probably knew some other things about them, like how to tell when a person she knew was one. He was starting to worry about Isolt being alone with her. What if she turned on Isolt? What if she found out the truth and that Isolt had kept it from her? What if she tried to kill Isolt or called her brother to come do it? He hid all his emotions behind that neutral but interested mask he was so good at wearing. Then she said that for every story they told of their childhood, he needed to tell one of his own. He smiled and nodded. That should be easy enough, as long as he doesn't give any hints that his childhood took place before the civil war. "Alright, sounds fair." He conceded. Her first question was interesting. A defining moment? He picked a safe one. "The first time I saw my father raise a hand to my mother. He was high class and had a dominant male complex. He thought he owned the town and everyone in it. His family was just another heirarchy to keep control over and he flaunted it any way he could. My mother dared to stick up for me and she got slapped for it. I knew in that moment that I would never be the monster my father was. I would never let power define my actions."

He raised a brow, letting it sink in so she would know that it was a true story before he continued to the next question. There was a genuine bitterness in his voice anytime he brought up his father. He couldn't help the hate he still carried with him for the man, no matter how long he'd been six feet under. Now for the next question. He thought it only right that he turned to look at Isolt when he answered it. His lips gave way to that gentle smile he only reserved for her, the one that spoke of love so fierce that it could kill but so docile that it would surrender its own life if only for a moment of her happiness. "I see the only light that's ever penetrated the darkness I've been stuck in for...a long time. I was stuck in a routine of day to day surviving, never knowing I was missing anything until the day I saw her at the concert. I had to talk to her, not because she was pretty, but because she gave off a light that seemed to intensify everything else around her. Everything she touched seemed to gain new life and everywhere she looked, there was only hope and chance. I didn't know I was dead inside until I talked to her and felt truly alive for the first time in a really long time. I see my present and my future. I see my heart beating as if for the first time. I see life." He knew it was corny and maybe she would see it all as bullshit but in this, he didn't care so much about what she thought as the woman he was looking at.

He searched her face for clues, wanting to know that she believed him, that she knew just how much she meant to him. He tried to show her and tell her whenever he could just how she was everything to him and she always seemed to argue back as if she was undeserving but it was all true. Her opinion in this was the only one that mattered.
