Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Just because she can change into an animal didn't mean she was taught to always act like one. In her pack, to stay incognito, they had to learn how to hide their natural self. It was always a difficult concept for her to take and understand. She would rather run around on her hands and feet bare naked than have to sit still in class behind a desk. Although she loved school, her mind was more at a whirl. It wasn't that she had ADD, she just had the urge to just run. Being enclosed in a building was suffocating and hardly anyone seemed to understand. When class would be outside, she was more settled and at peace, always pleasant. Yet sitting in that cold room, having to stay in one spot, it made her cringe and caused her to twitch her foot up and down. Just as she had been doing earlier when they first sat down to eat. She conditioned herself to eat at a slower pace, wanting to satisfy the taste and give the illusion to her mind that she would be full after she was done eating. She learned this lesson the hard way growing up within her harsh conditions. They gave her a limited amount of food and only at twice per three, rather than the full healthy meal of three courses. Eating the small meal she provided for herself and the Fox, was enough to keep her over for another day or two. It was taking her awhile to recondition herself that she was capable of eating more than two meals three times a week, it was just a hard habit that she needed to kick.

The idea to join a pack was terrifying. It was hard for her to digest that she could join a pack where she wouldn't be harmed or treated differently just because of her condition. She had heard of other packs. At night when she was scurrying through the town or running about in the woods, she could hear the different sounds of various packs. Some were large and some small. There were packs that stuck to their species and packs that were intermixed. She did her best to stay away from them, keeping in mind of the different scents that spoke of claimed territory. She had done well, to keep herself in unclaimed areas, but she had managed to find at least one place where it was safe to roam. The Leopard allowed her a place to run, a place to hunt or even sleep within his territory. All she had to do was help him hunt or give him company. She hadn't submitted him as an Alpha nor had he mentioned anything about a pack. They were just allies for a temporary amount of time before one left the other. It was nice to learn how to trust a male without fearing any consequences. Why he allowed her around him or why he would find her, she didn't understand, but it was better than being alone all the time.

"I don't have anyone. I don't belong to anyone. You living here...we, I mean, I...you can do whatever you want here. The room you were just in is yours...and there is no need for rent."

She was well aware she was giving far more than she ever had to for the girl, let alone, the fact what she was offering the girl a whole new chance on life. Providing food and shelter was easy, it was called empathy and compassion. However, to a Were â€" a creature part animal, to provide an animal with no bond and no relation to, a chance to share food and shelter...it would cause any creature to become overwhelm with joy. She knew far too well what it was like to have nothing and although she received all of this, out of silence and pity, she would not allow it to go to complete waste. Shrugging her shoulders some, her blue-grey eyes would move to the ceiling a small frown gracing her disfigured features. She had forgotten there was a small problem to what appeared to be her humble abode.

"The second and third floors are...ruined...so I will need to fix it."

As the girl continued to ramble on the curly-haired woman didn't mind at all. It was rather nice to listen to someone else talk, even if it just was mindless chattering. Her head would tilt to the side curiously as the FoxGirl mentioned that the game she played wasn't always fun. If the girl was going to talk about her past she felt she was allowed to oblige. Even though she wasn't one that outwardly discussed such things about her past she felt obligated that she had to, in order to match. Her tone was calm holding a mater-of-fact tone as she attempted to speak about her own understanding of when she felt safe.

"Safe...for me it was when they locked me in my cage. No one could get me there, if I was in there, I was okay, sometimes."

She could feel the tension in the air, noticing how the girl squirmed in her chair feeling uncomfortable about the topic they were on. It would seem that both wanted to speak about their own history, but it was a difficult thing to do when there wasn't much trust...but there was the possibility that both would understand the other in a greater manner. Cleaning up the mess, even though nothing was really out of place, allowed her to stand and stretch herself some. The edge of being in an enclosed space was getting to her once more. She had never experienced pain here only continued loneliness. She was trying to remain like this, knowing it was better for her if she did. Even though there were times when she wished she could just stay in her form that she felt most comfortable in for the duration of her life- if only to escape the pain. Muttering softly, eyes shifted downwards as she lowered her head, her crossed arms tightening as if she were trying to comfort herself.

"It's hard...staying like this...the memories, it disappears when I shift."

I'd Rather Feel Pain Then Nothing At All
