Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale
Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.
Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.
Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.
River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.
Hearing her say that her mother was a 'proper bitch witch', Darien could completely relate to that more than she knew. He wanted to agree and admit it, but he holds back and his nods his head in agreement. Not like she would see that. He watches as she quickly disappears. He hears a door close and he's left to his thoughts, alone, in an apartment with a woman he just met this very day. Seriously, what am I doing? He finds himself quietly scanning around the small and quaint apartment, both envious of her to have her own quiet place and uncomfortable that he was starting to like living at the Shelter. And the mention of mothers, he found himself remembering his; good and bad memories interrupt his observation.
It felt both forever and short-lived before she reappears, tissue no longer in her nose but boy it looked like it hurt. Darien can hear the clanking of dishes, the fridge, and just hearing those things he realizes he never ate. His stomach growls in anticipation of whatever she was making. Actually, he doesn't know if she was making something just for herself. That thought crosses his mind and he grows almost sour, silently praying it wasn't so. He barely hears her explaining that witches had silver blood for he was so lost in the thought at prospect of food. He catches only a little bit of it. "Like real silver? Silver that people buy?" He doesn't even know how to reply with the Unicorn comment. Boy, she fucking loves Unicorns.
And then she's coming with two plates. A smile is on his face and he's giddy (but he holds it all inside). Like a child whose gonna get some chocolate for being a good boy. He accepts it happily, thanking her and looking at the sandwich greedily. He doesn't even wait for her to sit before he's already taking a bite and it's almost orgasmic. "Oh wow. This is so much better than that shit at the Shelter." Okay, so maybe the Shelter wasn't that great and he was starting to not like it so much. He forgot what real food was like; even a simple sandwich. He's taking another bite and he feels like a slob, coyly wiping the side of his lip and placing the half eaten food back on the plate, beside the pickle.
Her question kind of stings and brings on all those lost feelings he'd had since the day he was born. But he isn't about to give her his life story. He notices too that she sat on the opposite end of the couch; a gesture his shy self liked.
"Well, that's the funny thing actually." He finishes chewing and swallowing. "My mother said my dad mentioned this place and I guess I just felt like I needed to come here and see for myself. My dad was Fae and my mom wasn't. I guess my dad was a ... Casanova. You're the first person I've met who isn't .. human?" He finishes, feeling like he was rambling. Grabbing that sweet looking pickle, he says one more thing before taking a bite. "So, are Unicorns real then?" He's completely naive and serious. I mean, he was a fairy, she was a witch, he knew there was vampires and other things out there. Hell, Darien was even open to believing Bigfoot was real at this point!
