Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

With her finger tapping on her chin Yejide eyed the plants that were placed haphazardly in plastic temporary planters, they looked sad in the harsh florescent lighting of the nursery. Shifting the basket on her arm that held a small bag of mulch and a few tulip bulbs she reached out to really observe the leaves of the flowers. Not much irritated Yejide but coming out wasn't something she had planned on doing. With a soft sigh she placed the plant back down and continued down the row, she knew the store would be closing in an hour or so- last thing she needed was to inconvenience the employees. Plus the sooner she got done here the sooner she could go home and enjoy the night. It was probably the first clear night in a long while, off and on rain and clouds weren't something Yejide found herself enjoying. She just felt so far from everything. She missed the star-fae, she missed her family out here, and she missed her daughter. She missed her more than she missed anything else, in all honesty, but it wasn't safe for her to join Yejide yet. Plus she still had her education to finish.

Jolting to the side a young boy rushed over to his mom, a funny little ceramic frog in his hands, "Mom! Mom! Look at this! Can we get it for Nana?" His voice was flush with excitement and he held the frog precariously over his head trying to reach his mother's eye level. "Elliot, you almost knocked into that woman! Go apologize." Her voice was firm, and as Yejide was turning about to tell her not to worry about it she caught the look in the mother's eyes and then looked down at the boy who had turned to her. He looked chastened, but clearly his mother was instilling manners into him and Yejide would never fault her for that, she would have done that same in her position. "Sorry, ma'am." His hands clutched the frog to his chest, his lower lips jutted slightly from his reprimand. A gentle smile curves it's way onto her lips, "Thank you," she wouldn't pass an 'it's okay' because she didn't want him to keep running in stores but she would still be encouraging in a different way, "that's a very handsome frog by the way, your nana will love it."

The mother nodded at Yejide with a satisfied smile, "C'mon, Elliot, we can take it to her tomorrow morning." Giving a small wave the boy rounded the corner with his mother and was out of sight. Yejide's smile faded into just a pleasant look on her face as she turned back to the plants. The necklace that was pressed against her chest caused a vibration deep in her bones, the magic working hard to conceal the bright light that would have otherwise given her away. Her need and desire to be out beneath the stars was overwhelming. She could be there now if some kids in the neighborhood hadn't knocked one of her potted plants off her porch, the pieces of the ceramic pot ripping the plant apart completely.

Stepping briskly she jumped into the outdoor nursery were a few people were milling around with carts and being helped by employees. There were a few other plants out here, some of the warmer variety, and of course stacks and stacks of mulch. Smelled like the gardens her youngest sister Persephone was always tending to. The smell must have triggered something in her memory because she found herself more relaxed than irritated as she had been, and of course she was outside so naturally that was a huge playing factor. Studying the bunches of small and large plants on a long table she heard the words from a small and gentle looking man, "need any help, miss?" No sooner were the words out of his mouth then did she spy what she felt was perfect. Her hands wrapped around the disposable planter and she felt the weight settle she knew this was it. A cluster of succulents in different shapes and colors, so different and yet she felt that this was the one.

"Actually I think I've found exactly what I need, thank you for the offer though." Another small smile presses through her lips as she backs away and starts heading to the inside register, the plant tucked neatly in her plastic basket. Now it's hard to say if it was the fae causing mischief that evening but Yejide heard a yelp, turning to look behind her she watched as a large platform cart weighed down with a few small trees and bags of mulch went flying by, just narrowly missing a little old woman pushing a cart with new pots in it, and slamming into a large display of Miracle-Gro framed by glass watering bulbs. Needless to say the flat top cart toppled- the trees flying onto the concrete floor, tiny branches breaking from the impact and making small splintering sounds and of course the bags of mulch followed and snagged on the corners of the metal display and emptying their contents onto the floor and nearby customers. The display crumpled to the side, bottles of Miracle-Gro either bouncing off the floor or falling on just the right angle to pop them open and drench the mulch that was spread around the floor.

The glass water bulbs shattered on impact, raining pieces of decorated and painted glass anywhere within 20 feet, a few pieces bounced off of the top of Yejide's shoes and snicked by her bare legs leaving little pink and red lines. As the items settled the silence ringing through the area of the store showed how surprising the events had been, the only sounds were the liquid continuing to dampen the floor and mulch, the settling of the small trees, the sound of a now loose wheel spinning on the runaway cart, and an old Frank Sinatra song playing clearly through the stunned store. "~that's life- I just can't deny it~" Exhaling a breath she didn't even know she was holding, her hand clutched around the pendant of her necklace Yejide's eyes were as wide as everyone else's as they took in the scene as a solitary, "oops..." came from the mouth of an employee.

Removing her hand from her necklace as employees came rushing forward with mops and brooms, a floor manager giving out commands, Yejide felt she couldn't make this better or worse than it was. Backing up a step she started away and as she was pivoting her shoulder came colliding with a stranger's, the same arm that had been holding the basket. The plastic handles slid down her arm and the plastic basket hit the floor with a dull thud- relieved that nothing had fallen out Yejide crouched down, her fingertips touching the plant and reassured that it was alright she gave another sigh of relief. Pushing her darkly dyed hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ears Yejide clutched the basket and stood up, embarrassment flooding her cheeks for the moment and her eyes downcast, "Sorry about that, ah, think I'm a little shaken up from all the craziness." A small smile pulled on her lips, her eyes looking up.
