South

The southern part of the city has a chic family-oriented sort of charm to it. Here, small locally owned shops run rampant, neighbors often know each other by name, and the monthly socials are an event not to be missed. In the South, children can often be seen safely playing in the park or on sidewalks and in the weekends, families often take to the beach to enjoy the warm waters surrounding the city.

Ascension Center of Equitation

The Ascension Center of Equitation is the epicenter of the Dark Hunter Cavalry Unit. Originally a high-class facility for show-jumping, Ascension now caters entirely to the Cavalry Unit. Here the Dark Hunters learn how to ride and fight upon the backs of horses - many of which are Were's themselves.

Hyde Park

Hyde Place takes up a large part of the Southern side of the city and includes a large playground, several fountains, and a small garden. The park is open from five in the morning till midnight though many shady characters may visit this place while it's technically "closed". The park has also been a venue for several concerts and hosts many holiday-related events. Under a full moon, witches are often seen here for the sacred ground beneath the iconic Weeping Beech.

Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is an award-winning combined zoo and aquarium located within the Southern Part of Sacrosanct. Situated on 92 acres in Sacrosanct's Hyde Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. Point Defiance is also widely known for its conversation efforts regarding the breed and release program of Red Wolves.

The Outskirts

Beyond the city limits and over the bridge lies the deep, dark, and almost impenetrable forest. Often seen as a way to guard this magical city against the world that surrounds it, many are entirely ignorant of the evil that may creep between those tree trunks. Many were-creatures use the forest for the transformations of their newest members and some even take to hunting here. It isn't particularly peculiar for people to go missing within this forest but once you get through, the rest of the world awaits.

This night could not get any worse. It started off like any other. I was out by myself hunting and Ceasar and the rest of the pack were being lazy, wanting to dig through trash cans like dogs and eat the leftovers from humans. It's disgusting. I wanted something to really sink my teeth into, something alive and warm, something that makes me feel like a predator again. I sometimes feel like I'm losing that part of myself, that I'm becoming something soft and docile, almost like a dog.

I patrolled the woods but there were no fresh trails so soon enough I found myself wandering the streets of town. I passed a few trash cans that smelled appetizing but I wasn't going there so I kept right on walking. That is, until I heard something growing and heard the slimy voice of a human. My hackles rose as I stepped around the corner and saw a human with a crossbow pointed at what looked like a wolf. I've seen my older cousins in the wild but they usually run in packs while this one was alone. Then I saw his eyes, his bright green eyes, not the eyes of a wild wolf. A Were.

My instincts kicked in and I launched myself at the hunter, ready to defend the life of another like me, even though I knew nothing about him. I'm still new to this whole Were thing. I don't even know how shift yet but the thought of watching another Were die and not doing anything about it, well, that wasn't going to work for me. My jaws wrapped around the hunter's arm and the crossbow hit the pavement. I heard something snap and the hunter groaned and flung his arm, throwing me into the wall next to him. I felt the breath leave my lungs in a whoosh of air and I yelped, releasing his arm as I hit the ground.

I gasped, trying to catch my breath and waiting for the Were to jump in and do his part too but when I looked up, the wolf was gone. The pansy had chosen to run like a coward even though he was un-injured and twice the size of me. He had left me to die. I'd never felt so helpless and angry all at the same time. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, the hunter grabbed his cross bow and I felt something sharp jab into my leg. I screamed and snapped at him but missed and the next thing I saw was the butt of his crossbow coming down at my face.

When I woke up, I was tied up like a hog riding in the back of some van toward God knows where. My leg was throbbing and I could just make out the sharp angles of the crossbow bolt sticking out the side of my leg. It hurts so freaking bad.

So here I am and I can hear the guy talking on his phone to someone, something about his arm being broken and wanting to put the animal in the back down the right way, the justified way. Apparently I took his rightful kill or something and he wants payback for the money he's going to be missing out on. So I guess he's some kind of bounty hunter. Go him...not.

I whimper and immediately regret it. The man turns his head and sneers at me and it's the worst thing ever. It's like I'm seeing my death reflected in his eyes. I don't like that feeling. I squirm against the ropes but it's no use and I'm not flexible enough to reach them with my teeth. Suddenly the van comes to a stop and the man gets out. I can hear his voice fading, like he's walking away with someone, talking. I hear something about shackles and a toolbelt and I cringe. I've got to get out of here.

Panic sets in, something I haven't felt in, well, I don't know if I've ever felt panic before. I feel something stirring inside me, something new, something foreign. I cry out, and this time not from the arrow in my leg. It's something else. I'm shifting.

I can literally feel the bones in my body rearranging themselves, feel the hair plucking right out of my skin, being replaced by something smooth and olive in color. I feel my muzzle shortening, my teeth smoothing and my toes extending becoming...fingers. I wiggle them, the sensation so foreign to me. I feel hair on my head sprouting, lengthening. The worst feeling in the world is losing my tail. I feel off balance without it, like a boat without its rudder.

In my rage of changing, I'm able to wriggle out of the ropes binding me, my newly angled limbs slimmer so much easier to maneuver out of the loops that bound me. Now I'm crouched at the opposite side of the van, waiting for that door to open. I may not have fangs anymore but I'm ready for action anyway.
