What You'll Find Here

Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

The thought was enough to put them both into a state of shock. He could tell that Amelia was mulling it over like crazy. The idea must have never occurred to her that she could actually give birth. Of course, he didn't blame her. Who would expect a vampire to be able to carry life in their womb? She must have gone through the same pain as any new vampire as a woman, knowning that you were not truly alive anymore, that your heart wouldn't beat on its own, that you would never carry a child. He was sure there were tons of questions rolling around in her mind now at the possibilities. He tilted his head, just watching her. He could watch her all day every day though. She was just that intriguing and mystifying to him. He couldn't get over how beautiful she was, how exquisite every little line on her face was. It was like every time he looked at her, there was something new that he noticed. As she went to fall back, he moved as if on instinct, his arms reaching around to support her. She wobbled as she held onto him and then asked for answers which he couldn't give. His brows furrowed as he tried to explain and then she said that she'd always wanted a child. For some reason, that made the corner of his lip quirk a little.

"I guess never isn't always guaranteed."

He whispered softly. There seemed to be a doubt in her eyes as she looked at him, like she was scared that he might turn around and walk out at any minute. He wasn't going to do that though. He would never leave her like that. Sure, he was scared shitless right now and almost out of his mind with shock and apprehension but he wouldn't dare leave her. She didn't deserve that. He was in this until they figure out what's going on and then if it turns out that he was in fact going to be a father, well, then he would man up and be the father his own wasn't. He was sure she was probably wondering the same things he was, like how in the hell did this happen? She'd been having sex without a need for protection for centuries and suddenly his magic sperm fertilizes her? It didn't make sense, not to him, at least. Did it have to do with him or did she get a new power? He knew that being in Sacrosanct did things to you. You evolved, got new powers and sometimes, new weaknesses too. Could it be that Amelia evolved and found herself with a fertile womb? What would be the odds of that? He asked Amelia if she knew anyone who could help and she answered that she did. He nodded and scowled thoughtfully before giving a light shrug.

"Hope you have her on speed dial then cause we need an expert's opinion asap."

He was reluctant to let her go when she stepped back to call. He didn't want to smother her but he was worried about how weak and sick she was with this. If this was something new like a vampire getting pregnant for the first time then how would it be different? She seemed so drained. What if she didn't survive it? No, he couldn't think like that. Amelia was strong. She would make it through this. She had to. He watched her turn the soup off, raising a brow in question. Looked like she wasn't hungry anymore but he was sure she needed the energy. He listened carefully as she spoke to her doctor on the phone. Seemed like they were on well enough terms because the doctor agreed to come pretty quickly. She must be getting a good paycheck from Amelia. When the door bell rang, he jumped a little but tried to hide it. He was just so on edge now. He stiffened as Amelia walked to the door, like he was waiting on the grim reaper to be standing behind it, telling him that she wasn't going to live through this pregnancy. But it was just the doctor and he let out his breath in a long drawn out sigh. Now he was just being crazy. The doctor came in and asked if she needed him to step out. He raised a brow at the doctor, his eyes darkening a bit as he bit back the sarcastic comment just dying to come out. He was going to demand that he had to stay cause he wanted answers but he didn't want to offend Amelia. This doctor was trustworthy to her and he wanted to respect that.

Luckily for him, he didn't have to say anything because Amelia wanted him to stay. Though he couldn't help the way he jutted his jaw a little in a hmph kind of way to the doctor as if to say "what now." His expression softened the minute Amelia squeezed his hand though and when he smiled back at her, his eyes were full of love and adoration, only for her. He let the doctor do her job, mostly observing though his brows raised a few times, especially when she put on gloves and asked Amelia to spread them and then she inserted....well, you know. He stiffened during that part, even giving Amelia's hand a little squeeze like he was the one being violated. Why did she have to do that? He was sure it had some medical use but it was just awkward. She asked for urine too and he scowled a little, hoping she wouldn't need anything from him. Surely she wasn't going to test him and make sure he didn't do anything to Amelia, right? He gave Amelia a reassuring smirk and even a thumbs up as she took the urine cup and went to the bathroom. He didn't know how stupid he looked but he wanted to at least make her smile. She seemed so tense through this whole thing, not that he could blame her. When she came back, he shifted his weight, almost aching to touch her or comfort her or some way. He watched the doctor put a stick in the urine cup which made his nose wrinkle a little but he got distracted thoroughly when the doctor brought up an ultrasound. His eyes widened like a kid at Christmas at the thought of seeing stuff going on inside her belly. Would he be able to see food in her stomach? He knew it might be too childish to ask so he held his tongue instead.

Her diet was mostly liquid anyway so it was probably boring. He grimaced when the doctor told her that she was probably pretty far along judging by her stomach. He walked over as Amelia laid on the couch and when she reached for his hand, he took it with another gentle squeeze. His eyes focused on that little ultrasound screen more than he's probably ever focused in his life. He swore he felt sweat beading on his forehead with the concentration he was putting into that ultrasound but when the picture came up and there was a tell tale heartbeat, his own heart started racing and his breathing got a little rapid. It was true then. She was really pregnant. He was going to be a dad. But then all that came into question because Amelia spoke up, protesting the timeline and he raised a brow at her. If the doctor wasn't here and it wasn't such a serious conversation, he would be quizzing her about drunken nights and men she doesn't remember but he decided to be nice and held his tongue once again. Seemed he was doing that a lot lately. The doctor tried to explain it but he could tell she was in over her head. She'd never seen anything like this before. She must be head over heels to watch this play out, a medical miracle in the making. He kept feeling Amelia's heavy gaze on him and he turned to give her a reassuring smile, his eyes warming as he pulled her hand to his lips and gave it a gentle kiss.

He didn't even think to ask for the baby's gender. He was still trying to wrap his head around the whole Amelia is pregnant with my baby thing. He was staring into space as the doctor cleaned her equipment but he heard her say that she wanted Amelia on vitamins to keep the pregnancy going. He stiffened at the words "if you intend on keeping it." Would Amelia consider abortion? He never thought about that when this idea hit them. She'd already admitted that she wanted to be a mom. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be a dad but somehow killing this child, whatever it was, seemed like the worst thing possible. He would never ask Amelia to do that. He had already accepted that he would be there for both her and the baby, that he would take care of them. He just wondered where she was on the scale of things. But she answered that question pretty quickly. He felt himself smile a little. So vitamins, it is. He was going to be a father. He was sure he'd have to repeat that to himself at least 500 more times before the baby is born. And judging by the rate of things so far, he wouldn't have a lot of time to do that in. He watched almost numbly as the doctor packed up and left. He was still standing stoic by the couch when Amelia looked up at him and asked what he thought. He parted his lips and looked at her, speechless at first.

"I..."

How could he ever find the words? But then it hit him. In a soft almost mystified voice, his eyes wide and shining, he said those six words one more time.

"I'm going to be a dad."

Only 499 more times to go.
