East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

There was something altogether comforting about books - from the feel of the pages against her fingertips, to the quietness that surrounded her, and the simple fact that here, such loneliness was somehow acceptable. Here she could get away from the high social demands of her taxing job and simply exist with her nose nestled in a book and no one to bother her. A small frown crossed her features as her slender fingers ran with a slow methodical ease over the spine of those books. The covers were entirely enticing, the titles alone had the ability to spur her into action or to dismiss them with just those few simple words. She plucked one off the shelf, ran her fingers over the cover in a fashion that was altogether adoring before putting it back just a moment later. No, not that one, that one wasn't right. She placed it back amongst the horde of other entrancing titles before a particular one caught her interest. It was unique in a way that certainly called to the girl. The pages were black around the edges, the cover featured a large bird upon the front and the synopsis spoke of adventure and heroes and thieves and fantastical creatures and, before she knew it, Chizue found herself simply standing there amongst the rows of books already half way through with the first chapter. Oh how they captivated her! How she could lose herself in a life that would never be her's to have! At least, until...

The sound of her name entirely caught her off guard, a subdued cry of surprise left her lips as she leapt away from the voice, that book had closed within her hand, pressed against her chest as those wide chocolate eyes took in the sight of the strange figure she hadn't anticipated to hear. It took her a moment for her thoughts to catch up with the sight of the man in front of her and softly, a breath left her lips. Well, he wasn't what she anticipated but, at least she was hardly as terrifying as she thought he was! She could almost feel her heart beating in her chest! "Damon!" His name fell from her lips, still laced with surprise before her eyebrows slowly began to furrow in confusion. This certainly was not a place to find the enigmatic man. Usually he was at Isolt's side since he had returned and Chizue had seen to it that she hardly invaded in the time that she knew they needed together. "Hi. Um....were you looking for something?" Her head tilted inquisitively to the side, still altogether baffled as to why he might so take to stalking the sacred aisles of her book stores. Then again, she supposed the women who, alongside her, stalked these halls made for easy prey for a man as handsome as him.

A small hue of pink graced over the pale Asian's cheeks, her chocolate eyes immediately fell to the floor with the simple knowledge of how her skin so betrayed her thoughts. Rather on dwelling upon such a thing though, Chizue was quick to redirect her attention, and thus, the conversation elsewhere. "Are things with Isolt okay? Were you getting something for her?" At the very least, Chizue had found she was capable of bonding with her coven leader over such a thing as these, even if Isolt rarely had time for such a thing as books any more.
